NEET UG Counselling 2024
The UG Counselling for 2024, conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) through the Directorate General of Health Science (DGHS), is expected to commence in the first week of October 2024, following the exam scheduled for July 17th, 2024. The counselling process for NEET 2024 will be carried out online by the Directorate General Health of National Science.
Students must meet the qualifying criteria of the competitive exam to be eligible for counseling. General candidates must attain a minimum of 50% marks, while reserved categories, including physically handicapped individuals, require 40% marks. Unreserved physically handicapped candidates need to achieve 45% marks to qualify for counseling.
The NEET AIQ counseling is carried out in two rounds by DGHS. Candidates should be aware that after the second round of NEET Counseling 2024, any remaining seats will be transferred to the respective state quota. Vacant seats in the AIQ quota of deemed universities, Central Universities/ECIC college will be filled during the mop-up round of NEET 2024 counseling. Any remaining seats will then be allocated in the institutional round/stray round of NEET Counseling.
Therefore, candidates need to be well-informed about the NEET 2024 counseling procedure. The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET 2024 examination in offline mode across approximately 155 cities nationwide.

Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) are required to provide the following documents when applying to a deemed university.
Passport copies and embassy certificates are required. An affidavit of relationship should be provided, indicating the connection between the candidate and the sponsor. Additionally, a sponsorship affidavit is needed, confirming that the sponsor will cover all expenses throughout the candidate’s studies.

An SC/ST Certificate must be obtained from the appropriate authority, following the specified format in the prospectus/information bulletin, and should be in English or Hindi. The certificate should clearly state the sub-caste of the individual. Some states may require the Caste Certificate to be in English. If the certificate is in a regional language, the candidate must carry an attested translated copy in English/Hindi.
A Disability Certificate issued by an authorized Medical Board is required for 21 Benchmark Disabilities as per the Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016 (RPWD Act, 2016). Candidates should refer to clause 10.1 of the Information Bulletin of AIPMT/NEET for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses, issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for detailed information. No other PH certificate from a different authority/hospital will be accepted. Candidates are advised to check the college information of their allotted college for any additional documents that may be needed.

NEET 2024 Counselling Process Steps
Step 1 – New User Registration
To enroll in NEET UG counselling 2024, candidates should access the provided link. They are required to enter information such as their preferred stream (Medical/Dental), NEET UG roll number, application number, name, date of birth, and security pin. After completing the form, candidates must click the ‘Submit’ button. A page with the agreement terms will appear, giving candidates the choice to select ‘I Agree’ or ‘I Don’t Agree’. To proceed with the application process, candidates must click the ‘I Agree’ button. Subsequently, login credentials will be displayed on the screen. Candidates are advised to make a note of these credentials and set a secure password along with a security question for protection.
Step 2 – Submission of Personal Details
During this stage of NEET UG counseling 2024, applicants will need to provide information such as the mother’s name, father’s name, and the candidate’s address. Click the ‘Submit’ button. It is important to remember that once submitted, these details cannot be modified by the applicants. Therefore, ensure that the information matches the documents that will be submitted at the time of admission.
Step 3 – Payment for Counselling
Applicants must pay a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable tuition fee. These fees can be settled online, such as credit cards, debit cards, or net banking. The table below shows the specific fees that candidates need to submit.
Step 4 – Registration Slip
Once you have successfully submitted your details, a registration slip will appear on the screen. You can print this slip as it will be required for future admission procedures. To proceed further, simply click on the ‘Login’ button.
Step 5 – Available Choices
The “Available Choices” link will become active once the counseling process commences. On the left side of the screen, candidates will see the available choices displayed. Those who pay the fees for both 15% All India Quota (AIQ)/Central Universities and Deemed Universities can apply for seats in both categories.
Step 6 – Selecting the choices
To choose preferences, candidates must click on the ‘+’ icon next to each preference. Once a preference is selected, it will move from the left side of the screen to the right side. After making selections, candidates will need to click on the ‘Save & Continue’ button to proceed with saving their choices or on the ‘Save & Go to Home Page’ button to save the selections and exit.

Candidates are recommended to print out their filled choices as it can be helpful during the subsequent NEET UG counselling stages. Even if candidates have not yet locked their choices, they can still print out their preference choices after the locking process has been completed.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India, will oversee the counseling for the 15% All India Quota seats. Candidates who have scored above the 15% All India cut-off will qualify to take part in the NEET All India Counseling.
During the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) counseling, all state medical and dental colleges participate in providing admissions to medical aspirants on their respective campuses. This counseling process enables NEET candidates to secure admissions to medical colleges located across India.

NEET Counselling 2024 – Registration Fee and Forfeiture
During the registration process for the 15% All India Quota/Central University Quota or Deemed University Quota, candidates are required to pay two types of fees.
For those interested in participating in All India Quota and Central University counseling, there is a non-refundable registration fee of INR 1,000 (INR 500 for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates). On the other hand, candidates applying for Deemed Universities need to pay a non-refundable registration fee of INR 5,000. Candidates opting for both All India Quota and Deemed University counseling must pay the higher non-refundable registration fee of INR 5,000.
Furthermore, a refundable registration fee will also be charged. The refundable registration fee is INR 10,000 for the 15% All India Quota seats and Central University seats, and INR 2,00,000 for Deemed Universities, as per the Gazette of India notification issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) on May 18, 2018.
Candidates forfeit their refundable registration fees if they choose not to take up the allocated seats. If they accept the seats, the fees will be adjusted against the tuition fee; however, they will not be allowed to withdraw or participate in other counseling processes.

NEET Counselling Security Fee Refund
The authorities will process the refund of the NEET counseling security fee once the counseling procedure is concluded. If candidates are allocated seats during the NEET Counselling 2024 process, the security amount will be reimbursed to their respective institutions after deducting the annual fees. In case candidates do not receive any seats throughout the counseling process, the refund will be transferred to the same account used during registration. Therefore, candidates are advised to ensure that their bank account and card remain active until the refund is completed.
