NEET Counselling for the year 2024 is expected to commence around July 2024. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), responsible for the counselling process, is likely to unveil the specific NEET 2024 counselling schedule about a month after the release of the NEET 2024 results.
NEET UG 2024 will feature six rounds of counseling, scheduled to conclude tentatively by November 2024. The number of rounds could change depending on seat availability. The NEET counseling process determines the allocation of medical seats, with a total of 109,145 MBBS seats and 27,868 BDS seats available.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) oversees the NEET UG counselling for admission to MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing seats under the All India Quota (AIQ) comprising 15% of the total seats. The State Medical Counselling and Admission Authorities manage the counselling process for the remaining 85% State Quota seats. Eligibility for participation in the counselling process is limited to candidates who meet the NEET cutoff marks set for the exam.
The NEET 2024 examination took place on May 5, 2024, and the results for NEET 2024 are scheduled to be announced on June 14, 2024. The NEET 2024 counseling process is anticipated to follow last year’s procedures, including the registration fee. Nonetheless, there will be changes in the seat matrix due to an increase in the total number of MBBS seats compared to the previous year. This page provides an extensive overview of the NEET counseling 2023 for the reference of candidates.

NEET 2024 Counselling Process
Candidates who have passed NEET 2024 and are interested in applying for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities, or ESIC colleges must complete their registration online through the MCC’s official website. The detailed process of NEET 2024 counselling will be outlined below.
Registration
To begin, candidates need to enroll in the NEET counseling session for each round. The registration is done entirely online. They must access the MCC’s official website to complete their registration, and make the payment online using net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI.
Choice filling
- Upon finishing the registration process, candidates are required to log into their registered account on the MCC portal and proceed to select their choices.
- They need to choose the course/ college in the desired order of preference
- They can fill in any number of choices from the list provided
- Candidates can add/delete a choice
- They can also move up/ move down a choice as per their preference
- Once the choices have been filled out, it is important to save a copy of the filled-in choices for future reference.
Choice Locking
The next step involves finalizing the choices made by the candidates. It is essential to confirm the selections within the given timeframe to receive a copy of your submitted choices. Candidates are strongly advised by MCC to complete the registration process promptly, including locking in their choices and printing them for reference. Before confirming your choices, it is recommended to carefully review them as they cannot be changed once they are confirmed, even if there is an error. Failing to do so may result in being assigned a seat that was not the intended choice. It is crucial to understand that once selections are locked, they cannot be changed, not even by MCC.
Verification by Universities and Processing of Seat Allotment
Once candidates submit their registration details and choices, universities and colleges will verify them before releasing the seat allotment result.
Seat Allotment Result
The MCC will publish the seat allotment outcome for candidates who complete the registration and choice submission within the specified deadlines. Initially, a provisional result will be made available, giving candidates the opportunity to raise objections if necessary. Subsequently, the final seat allotment list will be released. Depending on their seat allocation, candidates can choose to accept the offer and proceed to institute reporting or opt for seat upgradation. If they opt for an upgrade, they must register for additional rounds of counseling.
Reporting to the college allotted
Candidates selected during the NEET 2024 counseling process must proceed to the assigned institutes for document verification and seat confirmation. Failure to report to the institute within the specified deadline after accepting the allocated seat will result in the cancellation of their candidature.
Any unoccupied seats from the initial round will be moved to the subsequent round. Nevertheless, any unused seats after the final round of NEET counseling in 2024 will be reassigned to the corresponding state quota. Vacant positions in the All India Quota (AIQ) of Deemed Universities, Central Universities, and ESIC colleges will be occupied during a supplementary round of NEET 2023 counseling. Any leftover seats will be allocated during the institutional/stray round of NEET counseling.
